Ophthalmologist and eminent social activist of Chhattisgarh Dr. Dinesh
Mishra was awarded with National Award for Science popularisation of
Government of India. This award was handed over to Dr. Dinesh Mishra
by the Union Minister for Science & Technology Hon’ble Kapil Sibbal
on National Science day 28th Feb. 2008 at Delhi.
Government
of India presented National Science Popularisation Award for excellent
efforts for awareness of the Science and its publicity and to root out
superstitions. Handing over the award Hon’ble Kapil Sibbal said that
he felt glad to confer to Dr. Mishra.

Dr. Dinesh
Mishra who had created a niche for taking up a campaign to erradicate
superstitions and other social evils. He had been founder of social
organisation “Andh Shraddha Nirmulan Samiti working in Chhattisgarh
& neighbour states since 1995 Dr. Mishra has organised workshops,
lectures to educated and to develop scientific temperament among rural
people. He took more than 700 public meetings in rural area of Chhattisgarh,
MP, Orissa,. He has been speaker at various national workshops. Dr.
Mishra has also written books on scientific temperament, eye diseases
and on exploitation of women as ‘tonhi (witch)’.

was also honoured by ‘Pt. Ravishankar Shukla Samman “ during “Chhattisgarh
Alankaran Samaroh” in the year 2006. In addition to this Dr. Mishra
has also been felicitated by State Women’s Commission, Winner of Red
& White Bravery Award conferred by other social organsiations.
Dr Dinesh
Mishra is active member of Medical Organisations. He is life member
of Indian Medical Association. All India Ophthalmological society. He
has been constantly organising free eye-checkup camps & has also
been actively pursuing people to donate their eyes after death.
DR. DINESH MISHRA
Born in
1961, Dr. Dinesh Mishra has been working since 1995 for science popularization,
scientific approach and scientific awareness. He has been visiting various
parts of the country and organizing meetings, seminars, lectures for
demonstration of scientific facts behind miracles. He has been organizing
many campaigns against mis-beliefs.
Dr. Dinesh
Mishra delivered lectures in various schools and colleges on subjects
like science popularization and superstition eradication, ill effects
of superstition, necessity of scientific approach. He started a series
of scientific demonstration to generate interest in science among students.
Dr. Mishra visited NCC and NSS camps and organized lectures and demonstrations.
Dr. Mishra
has been conducting campaign entitled ‘no women is dyne’ against
incidents of harassment of women alleged to witches. He not only saved
many women but raised nation wide movements for eradication of superstitions.
His works have been commended by the National Commission for Human Rights.
Dr. Dinesh
Mishra organized Andh Shradha Nirmoolan Samiti in 1995. He organized
a national level survey for study of impact of serials based on ghosts
and unbelievable incidents being telecast on different TV channels.
He authored 6 books on scientific awakening including ‘Parakh’ which
have been recommended by state government and literacy mission. Dr.
Mishra has himself developed an ‘activity kit’ through which he
imparts training to volunteers in viIlages. Dr. Mishra is also a senior
eye specialist who provides free treatment to the patients injured in
accidents.
